Short Getaway at Montigo Resort Batam Part 2

In part 1, I shared with you on Montigo Resort and what it’s villa can offer you and your family. In part 2, I am going to shared with you some activities you can do in Batam.

1. Continental Breakfast @ Montigo Resort

The day started with having a sumptuous breakfast at TADD’s restaurant in Montigo Resort. Breakfast is typically provided as a guest of the resort. Breakfast will be served in international continental style, consist of a few individual stations for asian food delight such as Roti prata, Mee Goreng and Mutarbak.

2. Explore Montigo Resort Kid’s Recreation Area

Montigo Resort is really built for family. It has a well designed kid’s recreation area, where your children can play, draw and make new friends. Being young at heart, we explore the area too!

3.  Shopping at Nagoya Hill

After exploring we booked a taxi and headed towards Nagoya Hill near Batam Center. It is a shopping heaven in Batam in which it has the largest shopping mall in Batam known as Nagoya Hill Shopping Center.  However, please do not have high expectation over what you expect from a shopping mall (Ion Orchard for example) in Singapore. Instead you should appreciate its simple and laid back setting providing tourist and locals, a place to shop and dine.

4. Massage and Spa

After a few hours of shopping, we went for our 3 hours spa package. How to describe it, I can only say “SHIOK AH”! Haha. (For those who don’t understand Singlish, shiok meant “Great! with an expression of satisfaction”).

Furthermore, how can a Batam trip go without a spa and massage? I strongly encourage visitors to visit one of the below mentioned spa salons. Their service is excellent yet the price is friendly to one’s wallet.

– The Spa Secret (http://www.spasecretbatam.com)

– Well Asih Spa (www.wellasih.com)

Well Asih Spa deserved a commentary. Just by simple comparison, you will notice that obviously The Spa Secret is more well decorated and having the premium-kind of feeling. Yes, you are right. However, skill wise I must say  Well Asih’s therapist are more skilful and attentive. That is not to say The Spa Secret’s therapist did a bad job (in fact I must say they did well), but I am saying Well Asih is better!  The price needless to say is about SGD $35-$50 for the same package you can get over at The Spa Secret for about SGD $70- $100, twice the difference.

Is really up to yourself to choose. If you won’t mind paying a bit more to get the exclusive and premium kind of feeling, visit The Spa Secret. You will get to feel like a king or queen.

On the other hand, if you prefer cheap and good kind of service, then visit well asih. Their bosses are also kind people who are willingly to drive you back to your resort for free.

5. Dinner

As we stayed there for 2 nights, this give us the chance to try eating at 2 different places for our dinner. I must say the food served by these 2 mentioned places are delicious. We are very satisfied and well fed that 2 nights. 🙂

– The Pantai Restuarant in Montigo Resort

Pantai Restaurant is just located below the reception area. It serves Chinese food (but halal) like what we normally have in those “Zi Char” (Cook Fried) stalls in hawker centres.  With the 4 dishes we ordered below, it just cost us SGD$35 for 2 person, very affordable!

– de Sampan Seafood & BBQ

Batam being an island give seafood lovers a spoilt for choices. de Sampan Seafood is one the famous outdoor seafood restaurants in Batam and it definitely worth your visit. Sampan is a small boat or canoe, therefore being called de Sampam the food is literally placed in a canoe  for you to choose before they cook it. It give just give you a different kind of feeling. Price wise, about SGD$30 for 2 pax.

6. Chill at Poolside Bar, Tiigo @ Montigo Resort

On the last night of our Batam getaway, we chilled at the poolside bar in Montigo Resort. That night happened to have a DJ spinning nice music for us and it really value add to our experience. Ordered 2 drinks and french fries, sat by the pool with the view of Singapore at the opposite felt awesome!

Alright, that summed up my short getaway visit last week to Batam, Montigo Resort. While uploading the pictures, it make me miss the place, the massage and the food again. I would definitely visit Batam again but perhaps a different resort. Don’t get me wrong, Montigo resort is really a class of its own and I will strongly encourage you to go for Montigo if you are going as a family. However, since I already went and stayed there before, I would really like to try other resort to get a different experience.

Will I recommend Montigo Resort? Yes! But bear in mind currently a few facilities are under upgrading so there isn’t much things you can do in the resort. You can however talk to the receptionist and they can schedule your desired activity with their neighbouring resort.

Will I be back at Montigo Resort? Yes! perhaps with my family in future! =)

Cheers~

  1. Looks really good, SOL… How much did it costs ?
I should have chosen this place too…!! My fren and I were at Batam two weeks ago too. But it had been a horrible time. My fren had a bad fall and fractured his shoulder. We cut short our trip and took the earlier ferry back the next day to go to the A & E. Sighh… : X

    • Hi Xia, yes Montigo is really a nice resort to visit if you simply just want to relax and rejuvenate as there is not many activities within the resort. The cost is about 400 per night through agoda.com

Oh dear sad to hear that. Is it because of water sports or similar activity?

      • It looks really good. May want to try it the next time round… 🙂

My fren was walking on the concrete beam to cross the drain to save a kitty and the concreate beam just crumbled and he fell into the drain. Fractured his arm in the process of regaining his balance. To think that a concreate beam would just disintegrate like that… Gosh…
