You Are Your Own Echo

Echo is much described in science to be a series of sounds caused by the reflection of sound waves from a surface back to the source. This phenomenon can also be applied in understanding our way of living. Let me share with you a story that I came across a few days ago:

” A son and his father were walking on the mountains.
Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”
To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain:
Curious, he yells: “Who are you?”
He receives the answer: “Who are you?”
Angered at the response, he screams: “Coward!”
He receives the answer: “Coward!”
He looks to his father and asks: “What’s going on?”
The father smiles and says: “My son, pay attention.”
And then he screams to the mountain: “I admire you!”
The voice answers: “I admire you!”
Again the man screams: “You are a champion!”
The voice answers: “You are a champion!”
The boy is surprised, but does not understand.
Then the father explains: “People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back everything you have given to it.”

Life Lesson

We are often a result of our own voice echoed back to us. If you think you will succeed, then eventually you will. Nobody has the capability to determine your fate except for yourself. This is a powerful force if we are to use it to our advantage. But sadly, anecdotal evidence show that majority of us used it against ourselves instead. That’s how self-doubt, low self-esteem and depression come about. We allow external factors to influence us. Instead of speaking for ourselves, we put emphasis on others’ opinion and are we trying to please everybody by doing what they want us to do rather than what we really want to do.

So dear readers, the next time when you stand in front of a mirror, do take a good look at yourself and think of what you want to say to yourself? A good time will be at every morning when you are about to brush your teeth. Start the day by giving yourself a smile and follow by words of positive encouragement to yourself. Trust me, after a few days, you will feel much happier and clearer of your own needs.

You should empower yourself

Lastly, allow me to share with you 2 of my favourite quotes of all time:

Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. –Napoleon Hill

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. –Steve Jobs
